And now for the next installment of our (semi) daily series:
The next team we’re going to trade with is the Charlotte Hornets, who don’t have much we want but can get us a much cheaper SF in Cody Martin and a decent backup guard in Terry Rozier.
This is our team after doing the trade. We probably should have pushed for more, but I’m happy with this return.
This is the team we’ll be playing through the season with. McDaniels actually got better this time, so no complaints from me.
We won 52 games and got the 2 seed. Like every other sim, we had a top 3 offense, finishing second this time behind the talents of Joel Embiid, James Harden, and Tyrese Maxey. Our defense finished 21st, which is a bit better than what I expected from this roster. We end up sweeping the seventh-seeded Cavs and third-seeded Hawks to reach the conference finals, where we manage to beat the Celtics (FTC, of course) in six games.
We face the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA Finals. We lose the first two games in Memphis but manage to win the next two at home. We lose a heartbreaking Game 5 in double overtime but then beat Memphis at home again to force a Game 7. We lose that Game 7, denying ourselves a shot at our first championship in over 40 years. Oh, well.
Considering how close we got to winning it all after flipping Harris for Martin and Rozier, I would consider that trade a success. Hopefully we can get another trophy to add to our collection next time.
