In a result that should have surprised no one, the Philadelphia Eagles have defeated the Kansas City Cheaters to win their second Super Bowl. Saquon Barkley, who has been the engine of our offense all year, actually didn’t have a great game, finishing with just 57 yards on 25 rushing attempts, just the second time all season that he was held under 60 yards rushing. Kansas City clearly came into this game seeking to shut Barkley down at all costs, but unfortunately for them, that cost was Jalen Hurts, hungry for another shot at them after having a Super Bowl victory stolen from him two years ago, going off. Hurts finished with 221 yards passing and, most impressively, 72 yards rushing in the game, the most rushing yards ever for a quarterback in the Super Bowl. The Chiefs gave him the opportunity for revenge on a silver platter, and he took it.

By now, I can say safely that, including his college experience, Hurts has a top 5 career for any quarterback, and he’s only 26. He’s exactly what this city hoped Carson Wentz will be, and with Barkley and most the essentially pieces of our defense locked down for years, there’s absolutely no reason that the Eagles shouldn’t be back here next year. This season was already Super Bowl or bust in my eyes, but next season is doubly so. I do hope Nick Sirianni and the team takes as much time as they need to celebrate and then get right back to work. New York has had their Yankees dynasties, LA has had their Lakers dynasties, and Boston has had dynasties in basically every sport, but Philadelphia, the best city to be a sports fan in this country, hasn’t had a dynasty yet. This is our chance, and we need to take advantage of it. The Eagles will no longer be the hunters after this season. They’ll be the hunted, and how they respond to being the game circled on every other team’s calendar will tell us a lot about them.
