Welcome to College Football Coach Online! In this short game, you can simulate being the head coach at one of 80 college football programs. You'll be more of a CEO than an X's and O's coach, so your focus will be on hiring the right coordinators to maximize your talent on the field and helping to develop that talent between games.
To start, select the conference of the school you want to coach from the dropdown on the main page. You'll then be taken to a new page where you can select one of the conference's schools. You'll get to view the roster of the school you select before you commit to coaching them. If you're happy with the school's roster, you can choose a name for your coach and then advance to the offensive and defensive coordinator signing.
With offensive and defensive coordinator signing, the first thing you'll see is your school's budget. You'll want to maximize your budget to sign the best coordinators you can, as they'll contribute to how your team performs on-field. Each coordinator will have a unique ID, and to sign a coordinator, you simply need to put their ID in the text box where you're prompted, or you can skip one or both phases of coordinator signing, though it isn't recommended.
After signing your coordinators, you'll be able to view your roster again and then start the season. To progress through the season, you simply need to click the link at the bottom of the page that says "Sim to Week 1", "Sim to Week 2", etc. You'll also be able to run practices and, starting in the fifth week, view the rankings for the College Football Invitational. The CFI rankings after the conference championships will determine who plays for the national championship. If you don't finish in the top 8 of the poll, however, your team will still play in a bowl game if it's anywhere inside the top 40.
You'll also be able to run practices after every week to improve your players. If you're coaching a blue blood, running practices every week will virtually guarantee a championship for you, and even if you aren't, running practices consistently will help your team punch above its weight and have a strong finish.
