I took some time off for the holidays, but I planned to start posting here again for the new year. Two things delayed my grand return:
- The Eagles looking awful against the Saints in a game that could have locked up the 1 seed in the NFC
- Damar Hamlin’s injury – and “injury” feels like I’m understating what happened by a lot but I can’t think of a better word right now – on Monday Night Football. It was the type of thing to make you question your love of football. We know it’s a dangerous sport, with lots of broken bones and ruptured tendons and pulled muscles, but seeing a man lying on the field with his teammates crying around him, some of them I’m sure wondering if they would ever see him alive again, was something totally different and something I hope I never have to see again. I’m glad Hamlin’s doing better, and I hope he has a chance to play the game he’s devoted his entire life to again somehow.
Despite this wild and distressing week, I am back just in time to make my prediction for our game against the Giants tomorrow.
My prediction is that we win, of course.
The Phrenetic Bet of the Week isn’t coming back, so I won’t speculate on whether we win by 1 or 90, but the more the merrier of course. It is the Giants, after all, my fourth least favorite team after the Cowboys, the Cheat Commandos, and the Patriots. Jalen Hurts should also be back for this game, so there won’t be any excuse for the Eagles not to take care of business.
