With Labor Day over, it’s time for me to get to work again. The Eagles will start their new season this coming Sunday on the road against the Patriots, in a game where Tom Brady will be honored in a ceremony before kickoff, according to the Inquirer. Though we’re coming off a season where we reached the Super Bowl and should be even better, we’re only slight favorites in Foxborough. Point spreads have us as a 4 point favorite, which sounds about right, since even in the post-Brady era, New England has always played solid football. The Pats have lost their last two season openers, both against the Dolphins, while the Eagles have won two straight, both on the road. I expect the Eagles to keep that streak going with a game where we struggle initially due to an emotional Patriots team looking to make their quarterback of 20 years proud but one where we pull away eventually to cover our spread and get our season off to a good start.
