This blog isn’t dead yet, even though my Sixers likely are. Villanova has been a little less depressing than my other basketball team lately, though they’ll be a 6 seed for the second straight season coming out of the conference they mostly dominated for the last decade. I expect a repeat of last year where they beat the 11 seed in the first round of the Big East tournament before losing to an actually good team in the second round. Here are the full tournament odds according to bettingnews.com:
Odds to Win the Big Ten Tournament
- UConn -140
- Creighton +325
- Marquette +575
- St. John’s +900
- Villanova +1600
- Seton Hall +2500
- Providence +6600
- Xavier +7500
- Butler +10000
- DePaul +50000
- Georgetown +5000
Nova being above Seton Hall despite finishing below them in conference play is interesting. I haven’t seen any news of injuries or anything unique that would hamper the Pirates in the tournament, so if for some reason you aren’t a believer in my Wildcats, Seton Hall would be a fairly good value pick. Of course, the Big East champion is likely to come from that top 3, which the odds reflect. Should be a fun tournament either way!
