Earlier this year, Phrenetic Sports became the exclusive host of the browser game College Football Coach Online. The game has been very successful since then, with two important milestones (1000 coaches created and at least one coach for every school) being reached in the last week. The full version of the extended edition, Armchair Coach: College Football, was also published earlier this month. Obviously, there’s a much bigger college football game coming out in a few weeks, and our goal was to create an alternative that:
- Could be played on a PC, Android, or iOS device
- Didn’t push microtransactions like EA’s newest game is almost guaranteed to do
In the process, we learned a lot about game development and about the sport of college football as a whole. The two biggest changes to come to the sport in the last couple of years, NIL and transfer rules that allow a player to leave their school whenever they want to and not have to sit out a year at their next school, are implemented in this game, unlike most other college football games developed in previous eras. We also have the realigned conferences, including Texas in the SEC and the big California schools in the Big Ten, so it’s the most up-to-date college football simulation on the market today. Best of all, it’s completely free, so if you haven’t played CFBCO or Armchair Coach: College Football yet, make sure to give them a try today!
